For those of you living in municipalities that govern using the council-manager form of government, you’re in for a treat with this episode of Let’s Talk Portsmouth. In this segment, we interview Angel L. Jones city manager for the city of Portsmouth. Jones has been with the city for about eight months and has proven herself tenacious and capable. Prior to joining the Portsmouth team, she spent eight years in the private sector as a senior consultant providing project and risk management expertise to federal agencies including Health and Human Services and Housing and Urban Development. Jones has over 30 years of executive management experience in all levels of government and the private sector. She served as the City Manager and City Manager Pro Tem in Gaithersburg, MD, and Eugene, OR, respectively becoming the first appointed female and African American to hold both positions. It’s a lively conversation about new projects, philosophies, government transparency, and building relationships with the community.
